Welcome to the Ecotone! Lifelong learning for ministry is the fastest-growing area of theological education in North America. Located at the confluence of church, society, and academy, lifelong learning is an “ecotone,” a transitional space with its own distinct and robust ecology! And similar to “nature’s engineers,” lifelong learning leaders are reshaping the landscape of theological education, making it more accessible, diverse, and resilient amidst rapid societal and ecclesial shifts.
Founded in 1969 as the Society for the Advancement of Continuing Education for Ministry (SACEM), ALLLM has been supporting lifelong learning leaders. By providing resources, research, and opportunities to gather, ALLLM has advanced ministry effectiveness through educational innovation for nearly six decades. Today, ALLLM continues to convene and advocate for imaginative and forward-thinking leaders actively building the future of theological education. Our community includes theological educators, program directors, consultants, program designers and brokers, and leaders of continuing education for ministry.
